Ever since the OTT business has boomed; it has given a new lease of life to a number of careers. With forgotten actors, supporting cast and yesteryear superstars making a comeback through the medium, OTT is proving to be a new and fair ground for everybody to experiment on.

Even Anurag Kashyap’s 2017 sports drama, Mukkabaaz, featuring Vineet Kumar Singh and Zoya Hussain found more acceptance online. The actress, who is currently basking in the success of her web show Grahan, agrees to the role of OTT in her success and recounts a funny incident from when Mukkabaaz got its digital release. Zoya admits that most people saw Mukkabaaz either “online or on Tata Sky only”. “I remember the day that it was launched digitally, I was at my childhood best friend’s wedding. I was obviously involved in the wedding preparations and ceremonies and it was the day of her wedding only when Mukkabaaz came out online and my phone did not stop ringing. My inbox was completely flooded with messages and my phone crashed. So, the shaadi preparations were actually affected for her from my side, and she yelled at me saying stop being a shitty friend, and all I could reply was what can I do. But it was a really funny day for me,” she remembers fondly. ALSO READ: Grahan: Did You Know Pavan Malhotra And Zoya Hussain Were To Do A Romcom As A Father-Daughter Duo Before The Show?-EXCLUSIVE

In the last few years, many actors like Jaideep Ahlawat from Paatal Lok and Pankaj Tripathi from Mirzapur have achieved new found success through the medium. Even big stars like Manoj Bajpayee in The Family Man have tasted success here and many more like Ajay Devgn, Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha are also set to delve into it.
Not just new content, but OTT has also given a second lease of life to films that didn’t work well in theatres but found huge appreciation and support digitally. Harshvarrdhan Kapoor’s Bhavesh Joshi Superhero and Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar are some such examples.
