It truly is a wave of good Indian content on the internet. Zee5 has consistently produced a number of good shows and films both in Hindi and regional languages over the last couple of years. Their latest original film is called Barot House and is slated to premiere on 7th August 2019.

The film stars television superstar, Amit Sadh, who we saw play the role of a police officer in Amazon Prime Video’s Breathe last year and Manjari Fadnnis in lead roles. Wondering where you’ve seen her before? It was probably as Jai’s quirky girlfriend in our favourite rom-com of all time, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.

The trailer is well-edited and packs a lot of information about the show. We see two different timelines being explored, the past and the present. In the past, Amit and Manjari look happy as a family. They have two children and are seen spending quality time with them. Things are almost too perfect. Soon enough, we realize that disaster has truck and these happy snippets are intercut with scenes from the present.

Their daughter has been killed and the parents are in utter despair. It then becomes about a set of doting parents avenging their child’s death, while a police investigation is going on. We see Amit play the role of an angry and broken parent to great intensity – these roles seem to be his forte. The trailer also hints at the fact that he takes the law in his own hands and will not rest until the killer is caught. In one particular scene, we hear the mention of a serial killer. What kind of atrocities did this child go through? Who could commit such a heinous crime? Time will tell.

It has also been reported that Barot House is inspired by real life incidents which makes it even more compelling. We can’t wait to watch this one!
