Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan starring web series, titled Tandav released on the OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video on January 15. According to the latest report, director Ali Abbas Zafar and writer Gaurav Solanki have been asked to appear before the investigating officer on January 27. It was recently reported that an FIR has been filed against the makers and actors of Tandav in Lucknow. Later, Ali Abbas Zafar, director of Tandav was served with a legal notice in connection to the case filed against the web series.

On January 21, the Uttar Pradesh police officers served notice to Tandav director Ali Abbas Zafar and writer Gaurav Solanki at their respective residences in the city. As per the notice, India Today reported that the filmmaker and writer are asked to appear before the police officials at the Hazratganj PoliceStation in Lucknow. They have been asked to appear on January 27 at 10 AM. The report stated that the notice mentioned that if the filmmaker and writer fail to appear before the investigating officer on the date assigned, strict action will be taken against them.

According to the report, the notice also mentioned that the FIR filed against the makers of the web series Tandav for allegedly hurting religious sentiments has been registered. Meanwhile, the UP police officials had reached Ali Abbas Zafar and Gaurav Solanki’s residence on Thursday, but the notice was posted on the door of their respective flats. Reportedly, the officers didn’t find them present at their homes.

The web series Tandav premiered on Amazon Prime Video. And, since its release, it has been mired in controversy. For the unversed, the makers found them in the midst of a controversy after the series face massive outrage against it on social media. Many demanded a ban on the web series.
