Sushmita Sen's much-anticipated web series Taali has become talk of the nation after the makers dropped its intriguing trailer on Monday, August 7, 2023. The series will see Sen essaying the role of transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant.
The high-octane trailer gave a glimpse of Shreegauri Sawant's struggles from her momentous life and her fight for the recognition of the third gender in India. It also showcases the transformation of young Ganesh to Gauri and the journey of being accepted by the transgender community. The trailer further details how Shreegauri Sawant fought for the rights and welfare of transgender individuals in India and her major contribution to revolutionising the transgender equality movement in the country.
Interestingly, it also elaborates on Sawant’s journey as a transgender mother.
Notably, Sushmita Sen looks highly promising and it is touted to be her boldest avatar so far.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Sushmita shared the trailer as she wrote, "Gauri aa gayi hai. Apne swabhimaan, sammaan aur swatantrata ki kahaani lekar. #Taali - Bajayenge nahi, bajwayenge."
Reacting to the video, one user wrote, “Sushmita Sen is a phenomenon…what a journey from winning miss universe to Taali”. Another wrote, “Sushmita Sen never disappoint 🎉⭐🙌” A third user wrote, “Best actress award confirmed!”
In July 2023, the makers treated fans with the teaser on social media and gave a sneak peek at the courageous quest of struggles, resilience, and triumph.
In the teaser, the clip begins with Gauri a.k.a Sushmita Sen's voiceover where she introduces herself as Shreegauri Sawant, while she adjusts her saree in front of a mirror. She also described her journey in the video saying, "Gaali se taali tak.” ‘Taali’ will stream on Jio Cinema on August 15.
