The outbreak of Coronavirus only got worse with every passing month. If you remember, in March this year, when the COVID-19 scare had just about started, we had brought to you an exclusive piece of news that the pre-production work on the OTT version of Student of the Year that was being planned on Netflix had to be stalled.
The team working on the show was asked to stay at home until the virus scare settled, but now as we are (almost) halfway through the month of May, the outbreak has only been on the rise.
SpotboyE.com now has it that the show which earlier stood postponed will not see the light of the day on Netflix at least.
It was felt that the logistics of the show in the prevailing times of COVID-19 will not be viable and plus, it is not going to be easy to shoot as a lot of it had to be done outdoors. Or is there some other reason as well?
Netflix remained unavailable for comment. A source says, "Netflix will not talk about this latest decision of theirs on the SOTY web show because as such, they'd never announced it officially at any point. But the project has been cancelled. Asking them now, or even otherwise later might just yield a denial."
Let's see if SOTY makes its way in the form of a web show on some other streaming platform, sometime in future.
