Filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee who was touted to be one of the greatest filmmakers of Indian cinema has given some diverse and iconic films in his career. Films like Anari, Chupke Chupke, Anand, Abhimaan, Gol Maal, Bawarchi, Khubsoorat, Namak Haraam and more have gained cult status in Hindi cinema. Well, the new age director Shashank Khaitan who has directed the Dulhania franchise and Dhadak recently revealed that he hopes to make films like Filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee. While talking to SpotboyE’s host Manish Batavia on the Just Binge Sessions about his upcoming film, Ajeeb Daastaans, he revealed the same.

Manish asked him if he is feeling sentimental with his movie releasing on Netflix, to which he said that he only has gratitude in his heart while also sharing an anecdote from his film school. He was heard saying, “I hope to make movies like Filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee and I hope I get known for creating a certain kind of cinema. Today, in a very small way, when you have a Dulhania series attached to your name, you kind of feel like you’re living your dream every day. It must not be the iconic thing in the world right now but you’re still creating something. I have only gratitude in my heart and feel fortunate enough that I have got many opportunities and I continue not to take it for granted and will continue to work as hard as I was working in film school, so I can further my dream.”

Meanwhile, Ajeeb Daastaans will have four different stories, showing in one film. For his story, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Jaideep Ahlawat are playing the lead roles. The film will be releasing this Friday, on streaming giant Netflix.
