Netflix India’s superhit original Sacred Games is no ordinary show. With the immense fan following that the show has managed to gather since its release, it is safe to say that it is the most popular Indian show in the web space. With just a few days leading up to the release of Season 2, we took a look at some of our favourite characters from the show. Sure, Sartaj Singh and Ganesh Gaitonde are amazing, but these amazing actors and the characters they played also earned their share of the limelight.

1. Bunty

Bunty, Gaitonde’s loyal sidekick, is more like a brother to him. He is unflinchingly devoted to Gaitonde and his cause. A fabulous actor, Jatin Sharma breathes life into this character with utmost ease.  The end of the season brought a sad turn to Bunty’s character, but the makers promise that we’ll see a new side to him in Season 2.

2. Subhadra

Rajshri Deshpande is an actor par excellence who plays the role of Subhadra Gaitonde. Gaitonde is seen as a man who is meandering and has multiple love interests, all till he gets married to the love of his life, Subhadra. She adds meaning to his life and also manages to keep him rooted and level-headed.

3. Katekar

Everyone’s favourite Katekar, played by Jitendra Joshi, is an obvious addition to this list. Sartaj’s friend and co-inspector, Katekar is the example of an honest and well-meaning man who always puts his duty first. He is also a wise man who helps Sartaj out whenever he is in a personal fix or a professional one.

4. Kukoo

Kukoo ka jadoo chal gaya, as Kukoo herself would say about her role in Sacred Games. Kubbra Sait plays the role of a transgender dancer and Gaitonde’s love interest beautifully. It is a character that makes us root for her, her trials, her tribulations and the fabulous life she led.

We know most of these characters met their end in Season 1, and some will not be seen in Season 2. But they’ve defined popular culture, making their way into memes, dominating conversations. Even with their little screen time, they’ve had a lot of impact.
