It is not enough to say that Sacred Games is a good show. The Netflix India original stars Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Tripathi and Kalki Koechlin among others. With some of Bollywood’s best talent making its way to the second season, it definitely promised to be special – and special it was. It immersed us into its world from the moment we hit play. We laughed, we cried and we were left awe-struck. Here are some of the best moments from the season.
1. Gaitonde and Jojo’s relationship
At a time when Gaitonde is struggling to find himself far away from home, his only respite is Jojo. Played by Surveen Chawla, who we can’t believe used to act in K-serials, we fell in love with Jojo almost as quick as Gaitonde did. One of the most solid friendships of his life, she is one of the few people he can trust and confide in. Their scenes are warm, full of hope and are beautifully written and performed.
2. Guruji’s plan for Satya Yuga
Guruji believes that the world as it exists today should not exist – and it is easy to emphatize with him in the beginning. It is not till the end of episode 5 do we see his actual plan and it sends shudders down our spines. Definitely one of the most powerful scenes of the show, Guruji is in a ominously lit room with his followers and as his master plan is revealed, we realize that he is indeed at the epicenter of the death and destruction.
3. Yadav Ji and her brilliant plans
For the duration of Season 2, it seemed like the only one who could keep Gaitonde in check was Kusum Devi Yadav, a RAW agent and a character we hadn’t met in Season 1. Played by Amruta Subhash, Yadav ji was someone Gaitonde was scared of, someone he couldn’t quite stay ahead of. Her dedication to her country and to the field was admirable and we found yet another character to fall in love with.
4. The stunning finale
This list would be incomplete without mentioning the climax – the days have come down to a few minutes now and it is now do or die. Sartaj and his men chase down Shahid Khan (Ranvir Shorey) and finally uncover the bomb that will potentially wipe out the city. It’s a race against time and as a viewer, you feel as tense as the characters do!
