Teenagers swear by Riverdale, and surprisingly, adults do too. For everyone who has grown up reading Archie comics, Riverdale may spoil the innocence that the comics hold, but there is no doubt about the fact that Riverdale is a well-made show, with or without the Archie reference point. And our favourite messed up teenagers, Archie, Veronica, Betty and Jughead are back tomorrow for the fourth season.
Season 3 has its own set of revelations and shocking moments, most of which were packed into the finale to end the season on a cliffhanger. We learned that the Gargoyle King was Betty’s half brother, Chic all along. The troubles don’t end there for Betty as she learns at the end of Season 3 that her mother, Alice Cooper was nursing secrets of her own.
The Lodges’ are no different. Hiram Lodge is likely to wreak havoc for Archie and Veronica, even from the confines of a prison cell. You tend to wonder when and how these kids would find the time to study with so much dysfunction in their personal lives.
However, the most chilling scene comes at the end of the third season. Betty, Veronica and Archie seem to be enjoying milkshakes at Pop’s and you hope that this time, nothing can wreck their peace of mind. But suddenly, there is a flash forward scene. We see the three of them in the forest, in front of a fire, covered in blood. They seem to have committed a murder and vow to never speak of “this” again.
In the end, Archie throws Jughead’s beanie into the fire. Did the trio actually kill one of their own, Jughead? With references of Jughead going missing in the teasers we’ve seen, it seems that this show is definitely not slowing down.
Riverdale Season 4 is streaming tomorrow on Netflix.
