We have witnessed some dynamic duos in our Bollywood films over the years. Be it Amar-Prem from Andaz Apna Apna or Jai and Ali from Dhoom, or even Munna and Circuit from the Munnabhai franchise. These duos have shown that two is better than one, and together they are a riot and a force to be reckoned with. Now with the OTT platform booming over the last few years, even that has produced some amazing badass duos that have created a huge impact amongst the audience. Let’s have a look:

Manoj Bajpayee-Sharib Hashmi (The Family Man)

The whole country is currently reeling in the excitement and curiosity for the recently released second season of The Family Man. One of the things that kind of set apart the first season was the chemistry and camaraderie between Srikant Tiwari and JK Talpade, aka, Manoj and Sharib. The dry humour and constant back and forth between the two made season 1 all the more enjoyable, and their bonding only flourished in season 2. There are several instances in the show where the duo outshone everyone, including the café scene in season 2 where JK is unable to pronounce Aglio Olio or their prison fight. Anything more will be a spoiler, but the duo has surely stolen a lot of hearts with their chemistry, maybe better than what Manoj shares with Priyamani in the show.

Jaideep Ahlawat-Ishwak Singh (Paatal Lok)

When Paatal Lok released last year, no one expected it to become the monster of a success that it did. The storyline and portrayals were loved by the audience everywhere. And one of the USPs of the show was the equation between Hathiram and Imran, aka, Jaideep and Ishwak. The series gave a much-deserved boost to Jaideep’s career and Ishwak became a heartthrob of the nation after it. Even with the age gap and experience gap between the two in the show, the duo was badass in solving crime. One of the best scenes of the duo was when a few officers in the Police Station were commenting on Imran’s religion, Hathiram indirectly backed Imran. We now can’t wait for the duo’s chemistry to be explored more in season 2.

Saif Ali Khan-Jitendra Joshi (Sacred Games)

The previous two entries in the list are still comparatively new, but Sartaj and Katekar, aka, Saif and Jitendra were the OG crime fighting duo of OTT that made a place in the audience’s heart instantly. One was an inspector while the other was a constable, but when the two were together, that difference seemed to have disappeared. Even though their onscreen bonding was for a limited episodes only, who didn’t shed a tear when Katekar died in Sartaj’s arms and then Sartaj avenged his death by shooting his killer? You are straightaway lying if you say you didn’t.

Pankaj Tripathi-Shaji Chaudhary (Mirzapur)

One is a godfather while the other is his henchman, and together they can scare anyone off in their way. Kaleen Bhaiya and Maqbool, aka, Pankaj and Shaji didn’t get to explore that side of their equation in season 1 much as it was mostly all gory, but when Kaleen Bhaiya went to the doctor to consult about his sexual problems in season 2, his confidant was only Maqbool. And when he used Maqbool as a scapegoat to tell his story, that did make for a hilarious sequence. That equation now seems impossible to continue in season 3 since they have turned enemies now and with Maqbool’s part in Babuji’s death, but it would be interesting to see the friend-turned-foe scenario between the two.

Arjun Mathur-Sobhita Dhulipala (Made In Heaven)

This might be the only duo to not be involved in any blood and violence. Karan and Tara, aka, Arjun and Sobhita became the nation's sweetheart when Made In Heaven released in 2019. The two friends were never deeply involved or intrusive in each other’s lives but were always there when one needed the other. And when it came on the working field, they were a force to be reckoned with. They completed each other in ways that at places where one wasn’t ready to compromise, the other was and vice versa, thus maintaining a balance. Season 1 ended with both their lives in a complicated and sad place and now it will be really interesting to see where the two are headed together and individually as well.
