Finally, the release date of Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday’s much-awaited film Khaali Peeli has been announced. After dropping the trailer online, last month, there were reports that the makers of Khaali Peeli are looking forward to a direct-to-web release of the film. However, the platform and the release date were not announced. Later, it was speculated that the makers may drop the film on their homegrown platform of Zee on the Gandhi Jayanti.
Well, seems like the rumours have indeed turned out to be true. A while back, Khaali Peeli producer Ali Abbas Zafar took to Twitter to announce the release date of the film. Ananya and Ishaan starrer Khaali Peeli is set to hit the OTT Zeeplex platform on October 2, i.e., Gandhi Jayanti. Tweeting about the same, Ali wrote, “Akkhi country jis mad ride ke peeche padi hai, woh aa rahi hai 2nd October ko! Toh public ready ho jao, #KhaaliPeeli ke liye, arriving exclusively on @ZeeplexOfficial. #IshaanKhatter @ananyapandayy @JaideepAhlawat @maqbool_khan @iHimanshuMehra @ZeeStudios_ @teamoffside.”
Earlier spilling the beans on its release date, a source close to the development revealed to Pinkvilla, “The banner has locked Gandhi Jayanti (October 2) as the release date for Khaali Peeli. Zee Studios will stream it only on their homegrown platform exclusively.”

The source had gone on to reveal that the film needs a day or two patchworks before it’s ready for the digital release. “The entire team has figured out a plan to finish it all up. They need to shoot for a day or two at the max to wrap it completely. Ananya and Ishaan will film those scenes in a controlled set up in the coming few days, mostly in the first week of September. The shoot will be concluded in Mumbai following all safety guidelines,” added the source.
