With the arrival of July, director Priyadarshan gave a glimpse of his return to Hindi cinema after eight years with the trailer of his upcoming comedy Hungama 2, featuring Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Meezaan, Pranitha Subhash and Paresh Rawal in the lead, that will be releasing on July 23 on Disney+ Hotstar. The trailer has the trademark comedy in chaos, that is synonymous to Priyadarshan’s films.
The trailer also gave the audience a glimpse of the much-awaited recreation of the 1994 chartbuster Chura Ke Dil Mera from Main Khiladi Tu Anari, picturised on Akshay Kumar and Shilpa originally. After showing a glimpse of it, a few days later the makers released the whole recreated version which sees Shilpa recreating her magic of the ’90s, but this time with Meezaan.
The song also has Paresh in the frame, but Pranitha is nowhere to be seen in the video. Ask the actress if she regrets not being a part of this iconic song’s recreation and pat comes the reply.
“Yes, of course. Because the song is like a highlight of the film. I think it’s really cool for Shilpa actually, because I don’t think there is any star out there who did a song when they were 20, that became a smash hit and then 25 years later they are dancing on its recreated version themselves,” she gushes.
Pranitha insists that this is indeed a special feat to achieve. “You see all these Govinda’s or the ’90s songs being recreated for the young generation of actors, but Shilpa is the only one who have just changed her co-star and is dancing on her own song’s recreation,” she quips.
