Director Karan Sharma has been in the industry for a while now. He has directed project like Black Holi, has been an associate director on projects like - MTV Roadies, Home, India Strikes - 10 days, A flat, Anubhav and Second unit director in Avrodh. Now, he has gotten his big break with the project Maharani which is releasing on May 28 on the OTT platform.
Talking about the project and his vision he says, "The subject of Maharani is based on politics which mostly connects to the rural as well as the urban masses. My vision behind the shooting was to keep it realistic and organic so that people can connect with it easily. All this is only possible because my mentor Subhash Kapoor Sir had hopes in me and gave me such a story and a big platform to showcase my talent. I hope and wish that I have lived up to his expectations."
On being asked about the challenges while shooting for the project, he says, "The prime concern was finding the appropriate location which was a very difficult one keeping in the mind the safety norms but nevertheless what we got, in the end, was up to our expectations. But the biggest challenge while shooting Maharani during the pandemic was to not compromise on the creative level and to keep the safety of all the crew members and actors. Since it was period Drama and we were following the particular look and feel for the show, so it was really difficult for the production designer, costume designer, and other production requirements to source out their stuff during the pandemic, as most shops were closed due to covid but I am very happy and glad for the team they worked really hard and pulled this off in the given situation without compromising on the creative level. A big thanks to my producers Naren Kumar and Dimple Kharbanda without whom it would have been possible."
