The highly-awaited web series, which will chronicle the life of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s life and adapted from Hussain Zaidi's book Dongri to Dubai: Six Decades of the Mumbai Mafia, has reportedly gone on floors. The show, titled Dongri To Dubai, is being produced by Excel Entertainment’s Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's and helmed by Rock On 2 fame Shujaat Saudagar. It will capture Dawood Ibrahim’s early life, the other mob bosses and his gang members.

Dongri To Dubai boasts of an ensemble cast like Laila Majnu actor Avinash Tiwary, Kay Kay Menon and Angira Dhar and Amyra Dastur among others. Taking to his Twitter, Avinash Tiwary gave a sneak-peek into the shooting’s first schedule. It sees Avinash holding a cigarette in one hand with his back facing the camera. We could also see the clapperboard in the front that had DTD (Dongri To Dubai) written on it, along with the director, producers and DOP's name.

A source close to the web series told Asian Age, “Avinash is playing the role of Dawood Ibrahim in the film. There are others like Lakshya Kochhar, Prachee Shah and Jitin Gulati, among a host of other faces. The cost of the show is high because of the scale of the project. Earlier, Amazon Prime had done The Family Man with Raj And DK and before that, they had done Inside Edge again with Excel Entertainment, and they too were very high-budgeted properties. But the kind of investments that Amazon Prime is making in Dongri to Dubai is mind-boggling.”
