And the International Emmy Award For Best Drama Series goes to Netflix’s Delhi Crime. Yes. You read it right. Indeed a proud moment for the cast and crew of this series, based on the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape that took place in Delhi, thus leaving the entire nation shocked. The role of Deputy Commissioner of Police played by seasoned actor Shefali Shah just nailed it with her performance. In the show she is seen solving this entire case, ultimately leading to grab the culprits of this gang-rape and murder.
The executive director of the series Richie Mehta, in his acceptance speech appreciated the team that made this happen, and especially dedicated it to all the women on his team who lead this project. Followed by paying a tribute to the victim and her mother, he said in the video, “I dedicate this award to all the women who not just endure the violence that so many men inflict on them, but are then tasked to solve the problem. Finally, to the tireless mother, and her daughter. Not a day goes by when I don’t think about you both and what the world subjected you two to. And I hope none of us ever forget that.”
Shefali who played the lead role was thrilled and posted a video, where one could hear her being amazed with the announcement; she shared the video of the live streaming of this event, with the caption, “OMGGGGGGGGGGGG OMGGGGGGGGGGGG OMGGGGGGGGGGGG”
