Singham actor Ajay Devgn announced his digital debut with a first-ever crime-drama series Rudra- The Edge of Darkness on Disney + Hotstar VIP. The actor will be seen in an intense and gritty new cop avatar. The shooting for the same will begin soon and will be directed by Ferrari Ki Sawaari and Marathi film Ventilator director Rajesh Mapuskar.

Rudra - The Edge of Darkness is a remake of the British show Luther, which featured Idris Elba in the lead role. It will be jointly produced by BBC India and Applause Entertainment and will stream on Disney + Hotstar.

The show is mounted on a large scale and will be shot across iconic locales of Mumbai. The actor took to Instagram and shared a poster of the new show. He wrote, "Happy to announce the crime thriller of the year Hotstar Specials 'Rudra - The Edge Of Darkness'. This one’s going to be ‘killer’ @disneyplushotstarvip #DebutDobara #Rudra @applausesocial @bbcstudiosindia @sameern."

Speaking of the show the actor said, “My attempt has always been to tell unique stories and work with good talent. The idea is to raise the bar of entertainment in India. The digital world excites me, and I am looking forward to working with Applause and BBC to bring this series to life on Disney+ Hotstar VIP."

" Playing a cop on screen is not new to me, but this time the character is more intense, complex, and dark. What drew me most to his persona, is that he is possibly the greyest character you may come across in recent times,” he further added.

Meanwhile, Ajay is currently busy shooting for his directorial MayDay. He also has films like Thank God, Kaithi, Chanakya, the YRF film, and many more. The actor is also waiting to release his next Bhuj: The Pride Of India, which will stream on Disney + Hotstar.
