Johnny Depp’s former wife and Hollywood actress Amber Heard has seemingly deleted her Twitter account just days after former beau Elon Musk's controversial takeover. Well, Amber isn’t the only one who left the platform. In the wake of Musk’s takeover, a slew of famous faces announced their plans to leave the platform, including Shonda Rhimes and Mick Foley.
Previously, Heard had posted, under the handle @realamberheard, which is no longer visible on the microblogging site, sparking speculation that she has followed suit.
However, if you tried visiting @realamberheard a message on her former page reads: "This account doesn't exist. Try searching for another". As per the recent reports, the account went down earlier today, but the reason behind this has not been made clear.
Amber has seemingly taken a backstep from the spotlight after she lost her highly-publicised court battle against Johnny Depp, and has not spoken publicly about the changes to her account.
Meanwhile, Amber is visible on Instagram, but she hasn’t been active on social media. Interestingly, her last update on Instagram is June 1.
For the unversed, Musk acquired Twitter last week and he promptly declared himself ‘Chief Twit’.
He is now the sole board member and has suggested a slew of changes on the social media platform since his acquisition, including a highly condemned subscription service for verified users.
Musk shared that there are some extra benifits for the users who pay $8. He explained, "You will also get:
- Priority in replies, mentions & search, which is essential to defeat spam/scam
- Ability to post long video & audio
- Half as many ads
- And paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with us
Reacting to the same, author Stephen King wrote, "$20 a month to keep my blue check? Fuck that, they should pay me. If that gets instituted, I'm gone like Enron." Elon Musk quickly responded by saying, "We need to pay the bills somehow! Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?" [sic]
