'90s kids have grown up on a cheesy, campy version of Power Rangers, whether it’s the live-action series or the cartoons. However, the teaser trailer for the upcoming Power Rangers film promises an all-grown up, intense and action-packed experience for fans. Saban’s Power Rangers seems to be taking the template of super-hero films, introduce them without their powers and have an up-tick in the film as they gain powers.
The teaser trailer shows the Power Rangers gaining their powers after the find an artefact at some crash-site. Going by what we saw in the trailer, the Power Rangers gain their iconic suits much later in the film. Director Dean Israelite, who is known for his Project Almanac, impresses with his direction that’s perfect for an ‘epic’ film. The film stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Bill Hader, with Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Banks.
The positive buzz around the film has already earned it a thought about sequels. Lionsgate, the company that’s distributing the film has said during a media interaction that this franchise could go on for 6 to 7 years. That would make Power Rangers one of the longest running franchises of all time. It first debuted in 1993, and has been going steady since the past 23 years now.
