Star Wars actor Dave Prowse, who was best known for playing Darth Vader in the movie trilogy is no more. The British actor passed away on Saturday. He was 85. Not many are well aware, Prowse, who was chosen to play Darth Vader in the Star Wars trilogy due to his impressive physique and fit body. The weightlifter turned actor was loved by his fans over the years for his stellar performance. According to a BBC report, Dave Prowse’ agent, Thomas Bowington informed about the actor’s demise on Sunday. The actor died after a short illness, as per his agent.
Confirming the news about Dave Prowse’s death, his agent Bowington said, “May the force be with him, always!" The agent to the late actor also added, "Though famous for playing many monsters - for myself, and all who knew Dave and worked with him, he was a hero in our lives." He shared how Dave was a hero to everyone who knew and worked with him, even though he played the roles of monsters etc in his movies.
On Twitter, Baby Driver director Edgar Wright reacted to the sad news about Dave Prowse’s demise. He made a tweet and paid a tribute to the late actor. Wright tweeted, “As a kid Dave Prowse couldn’t be more famous to me; stalking along corridors as evil incarnate in the part of Darth Vader & stopping a whole generation of kiddies from being mown down in street as the Green Cross Code man. Rest in Peace, Bristol’s finest.”
Meanwhile, Dave Prowse, who was a weightlifter before he took up acting, represented England in weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games in the 1950s. Born in Bristol, South England, the weightlifter turned actor also played roles that included Frankenstein’s monster, apart from his well-known character of Vader in Stars Wars trilogy.
