The horror of Coronavirus has not died yet and currently, people are only hoping for the vaccines that will act as a shield against the novel virus. Having said that, every day we hear some updates about the vaccines on social media, regardless of being true or false. Speaking about the same, the pop singer Selena Gomez is not very pleased with Facebook and has a big problem with the platform ever since she came across a video interview of Center for Countering Digital Hate CEO Imran Ahmed. In the video, he claimed that social media companies, like Facebook, claim that they are doing everything in their power to take down misinformation about COVID-19 that has been circulating on the platform. Social media companies say that they're doing their utmost 'but in reality, they’re doing absolutely nothing.'
Reacting to the same, Selena took to her Twitter handle to express her disappointment and even slammed the social networking site for the same. Not so long ago, the singer reposted the video interview on her Twitter timeline and wrote that disinformation about the deadly virus can cost lives as the social networking site is allowing to spread lies about the same.
She tweeted, "Scientific disinformation has and will cost lives. @Facebook said they don’t allow lies about COVID and vaccines to be spread on their platforms. So how come all of this is still happening? Facebook is going to be responsible for thousands of deaths if they don’t take action now!"
This is not the first time she is was seen slamming the site, earlier, she shared a tweet when she saw Facebook and Instagram both selling racist products online, “I’m speechless. @Facebook @Instagram how are you tolerating this hate? There’s still accounts there even though you have been notified!!,” she wrote.
