With the Coronavirus pandemic continues to spread globally, people all over have been staying indoors and self-quarantining. During such times, many celebrities have been doing live, holding virtual interviews and concerts right from the comfort of their homes. Similarly, Miley Cyrus started a live series called Bright Minded, in which she talked about mental health with Selena Gomez in the final episode, which also starred Elton John, Kerry Washington, and Jimmy Fallon. It was during that conversation that Selena revealed her bipolar disorder diagnosis.

During a 20-minute conversation with Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez said, “Recently, I went to one of the best mental hospitals in America, McLean Hospital. I discussed that after years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar.” She added that once she got to know more information about her condition, she wasn’t scared of it. “And so, when I got to know more information, it actually helps me. It doesn’t scare me once I know it. And I think people get scared of that, right?” she added.

Further stressing the importance of educating oneself, Selena said, “When I was younger, I was scared of thunderstorms, and my mom bought me all these different books on thunderstorms. The more that you educate yourself on this, the more that you’re not going to be afraid.’ And it completely worked.”

They further also talked about the emotional impact on people amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Selena revealed that being there for other people actually helps her too. “But sometimes I have to feel it, Miley. Sometimes I’ve got to cry it out and I’ve got to release it and just take a deep breath and then remind myself, go back to my tools, which is, OK, where is this coming from? I feel so much of what the world is feeling, so maybe I need to take a step back from that, or whatever it is,” she said.
