On May 25, an African American man died in Minneapolis after a white police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee on his neck while George kept saying he couldn’t breathe. Eventually, his body went limp and he died, following which, people stepped out to protest, seeking justice for George Floyd’s murder. Celebrities came out in support and took to their social media demanding justice, furious over the blatant disregard for black lives. Rihanna has been among those celebrities who have been speaking up about George Floyd’s death and the need for a change.

In her latest Instagram post, Rihanna posted the names of the states- Pennsylvania, Maryland, Indiana, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Iowa, Montana, New Mexico, and District of Columbia- that held their primary elections on June 2. In her caption, she urged her fans to go and vote for the change they wish to see. She wrote, “VOTE. Ya ain’t got sh*t else to do man! Get yo ass off the couch and go vote!!! I don’t wanna hear another excuse!! Stop believing that your vote and voice don’t matter! This the illest way to protest…vote for the change you want!!!”

However, one of her fans wrote that voting won’t change anything, after which Rihanna slammed the user, saying she’s sick of people saying this. The fan commented, “Voting ain’t gon change sh*t,” to which Rihanna replied, “sick of hearing this! Ya know what ain’t gon change sh*t? Not doing sh*t!!!!”
