Bong Joon-ho’s directorial venture Parasite turned out to be a winner this year as the film has swept away most of the awards under their name. On Golden Globes Awards 2020, Parasite bagged the Best motion picture — Foreign language award, it won Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) for Cast in a Motion Picture award while the film also took BAFTA awards home for Film Not in the English Language award. Guess, these all are proof that Parasite is one of a kind film. Adding to the list is Oscars award which they were honoured for Best Picture. With this, Priyanka Chopra who didn’t attend the event this year was seen congratulating the makers of the film on her social media handles.
She first took to her Twitter handle, tweeting, “Congratulations, @ParasiteMovie! #Oscars.” She then shared a long note on her Instagram story where she mentioned how the world has accepted the non-English film while also telling how the film shattered the glass as it made history with this being the first non-English film winning Oscar in the Best Picture category.
Her caption read, “Wow! It’s so emotional to see an international film like Parasite, in Korean with English subtitles, not only receive such a warm embrace from audiences around the world, but also this kind of recognition from one of the most prestigious film academy’s in the world. It’s time for representation. As people and as entertainers, we are one through entertainment. Our craft has the power to transcend boarders and languages and tonight parasite demonstrates exactly that. Congratulations to the entire film for shattering the glass ceiling and making history as the first non-English film to win the best picture.”
