New Year calls for a lot of celebrations, resolutions, opportunities and gratitude. And while our celebrities have covered most of it, Dwayne Johnson AKA The Rock was among the ones who thought of expressing gratitude over his scars that calluses has given him over the years. Taking to his Instagram, the wrestler-turned-actor shared a clip of him talking about his ordeal with the disease, his struggles while leaving his hometown Hawaii with family and it was an absolute pleasure listening to him.
The Jumanji actor started by talking about his dinosaur hands, “My hands are kind of messed up, I have calluses here, got some scars here and this knuckle is broken. Scars are from my football days. Got in a few fights over the years, dumb fights, I would say. Yeah, the calluses are all just from training.” Further, he opened up on his eviction from Hawaii at a very young age. “When I was 14 years old, we were evicted out of our efficiency in Hawaii and forced to leave the island and at that time in my life. I wanted to do everything I possibly could do to make sure that I was never in that position again where my family was being evicted, or I never wanted to see my mom cry because we didn’t have a place to live,” said Dwayne. At a very early age, I realized the importance of focusing on the thing I can always 100% control. The effort I put in with my own two hands. My word is in my handshake. My work ethic is in calluses. My gratitude and humility is in my scars. You want to know me? Shake my hand and you’ll know my story. Then if I really like you we’ll have some Teremana tequila and have some real fun. Our 2019 comes to a grateful close and let's embrace 2020 with relentless passion,” wrote the actor.
