The reality series Keeping Up With The Kardashians, featuring the Kardashian-Jenner clan, will soon be coming to an end after more than a decade-long run. Kim Kardashian had announced that KUWTK will wrap up this year, and that they have made this difficult decision as a family to end the show. KUWTK saw the journey of the Kardashian sisters- Kim, Khloe and Kourtney- over a period of 14 years. In the very first episode of KUWTK that aired in 2007, Kim had addressed her sex tape. In a recent interview, Kim revealed why she decided to discuss the sex tape on KUWTK.
While speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Kim Kardashian said that she probably would not have addressed the sex tape scandal if not for KUWTK. She said that the producers loved them talking about the ‘elephant in the room’. “Sometimes I feel like, 'OK, I know I should probably deal and get this over with. Someone's gonna ask me, so I might as well just go ahead and do it,'" said Kim. She further added that in some ways, filming for KUWTK has helped them deal with things and cope with them instead of ignoring and sweeping them under the rug.
“At the end of the day, I was always open and honest and wanted to share whatever I was going through. I wasn't gonna hold back,” she said.
The tapes that Kim Kardashian and rapper Ray J had made in 2002 had been released in 2007. During the first episode of KUWTK, Kourtney was seen asking Kim why she made the tape with Ray J, to which Kim replied, “Because I was horny and I felt like it."
