Rapper and Yeezy founder Kanye West is hitting headlines since the past few days now. The Yeezy founder managed to grab headlines after he informed fans through his Twitter and announced that he will be running for President in the upcoming Presidential elections in the US. Now, as per the latest reports, Kanye West is now a Presidential candidate as he makes it into the Illinois poll. The rapper has now managed to gather enough signatures required to qualify for the Illinois Presidential Ballot.

A spokesperson of the Illinois Board of Elections confirmed with Fox News that Kanye West filed 412 petitions sheets with the officials. As per the report, Kanye West’s petitions were filed by two representatives, four minutes before the Illinois State Board of Elections 5 p.m. CT deadline. Now, the election officials will be counting the signatures of all the registered voters from Illinois, of which Kanye needs at least 2500 signatures to get on the ballot. The signatures will be counted as petition sheets contain 10 names per sheet.

Meanwhile, according to the law, generally, 25,000 signatures are required for a candidate to have a spot on the ballot, but due to the global pandemic and lockdown, independent and new-party candidates are required to have lesser signatures this year to get a spot.  On the other hand, as Kanye West has submitted the petitions before the deadline, it does not mean the rapper will be getting a guaranteed spot on the Illinois ballot. Kanye will only get a spot on the ballot when the officials count the signatures and it meets the need.

In the meantime, after Kanye West announced running for President, his plans received a mixed response from fans all across, but there are many as well who are looking forward to his campaigns and events. The Yeezy founder had his first campaign in South Carolina, which did not turn up well.
