The creators of the upcoming musical thriller sequel, 'Joker: Folie a Deux,' have unveiled new images of the lead actors Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga from the film. On Instagram, DC Comics posted a series of pictures with the caption, "Feeling the love #JokerFolieADeux 10.4.24." In the initial image, Phoenix, in character as Joker, confronts Gaga, portraying Harley Quinn, who gazes away. The duo seems to be on stage, basking in the spotlight.
In the subsequent image, the on-screen couple is captured sharing a delightful moment. the Alexander star stands on one side of the bars, while the singer is seen on the opposite side as Quinn. The third photo captures on-screen duo dancing on a rooftop, with Gaga donning what seems to be a wedding dress, and Phoenix dressed in a sharp suit.
As per information from Variety, a US-based media outlet, detailed plot specifics for the second Joker film are yet to be revealed. However, it has been characterized as a drama infused with musical elements set within the backdrop of Arkham Asylum. The ensemble cast features returning 'Joker' star Zazie Beetz alongside franchise newcomers Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey.
The initial Joker' film stirred considerable controversy and acclaim upon its release in 2019, surpassing USD 1 billion in global box office earnings and securing its position as the highest-grossing R-rated release in cinema history. The movie garnered 11 Oscar nominations, including best picture, and earned Joaquin Phoenix the best actor award. The upcoming film stands as the lone DC comic book blockbuster slated for release in 2024, and anticipation is soaring due to the previous success of the franchise and the inclusion of the iconic Lady Gaga, according to reports from Variety.
