Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard have been in the news for quite some time now. Johnny Depp filed a lawsuit against a British Publication for undermining his image after an article in April 2018 that called him a ‘wife-beater’, and that he beat up his ex-wife Amber Heard. He has constantly denied abusing Amber, and recently, at Johnny Depp’s libel trial, Amber’s personal assistant Kate James and gave testimony. The ex-assistant claimed that Amber Heard used her sexual assault story and twisted it for her own use.
Kate James worked for Amber Heard from 2012 to 2015, and according to a report in Associated Press, she claimed that she had told Amber about a violent sexual assault she went through. However, James said that Amber twisted the story and used it. She had told Amber that she had been raped at machete-point in Brazil many years ago. Associated Press quoted Kate James saying by a video link from Los Angeles, “She referred directly to a violent rape that occurred to me 26 years ago and she twisted it into her own story and she used it for her own use.”
She further said, “I am a sexual violence survivor and that’s very, very serious to take that stance if you are not one.”
Meanwhile, Amber Heard has made several allegations of violence against Johnny Depp. They both met in 2011 on the set of The Rum Diary, after which they eventually married in 2015. Amber filed for a divorce in 2016, which was later finalized in 2017.
