The infamous $100 million trial between ex-couple Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has taken a new turn as the latter took the stand in the on-going defamation trial. During her testimony, Heard reportedly broke down as she recalled the unpleasant occasions in her relationship with Depp throughout her testimony, including the first time he reportedly beat her and did a "cavity search" on her.
Heard's evidence, according to psychologist Cooper Lawrence told Channel 7's Sunrise, "comes across as a little bit false," and she "sounded rehearsed."
Interestingly, much of the general public agreed and believed that the 36-year-old seemed to be quoting movie lines in her testimony. Spectators watching the trial took to social media and proposed that Heard's testimony seemed and sounded strangely familiar.
Many people learned Heard was likely to be taking quotes from movies and TV shows after doing some investigating.
One Twitter user tweeted "If you were Watching Amber Heard and felt like some of those lines felt strangely familiar, they are. She's stealing from film and TV and books. Here's a thread of what I have seen so far!" The second screenshot from the thread was by Micel Ko that read, "I believe the 'Drinks lots of tea' is mimicking how Julia Roberts said it to Hugh Grant in the movie 'Notting Hill.'"
In addition, during the trial Heard also revealed that Depp had slapped her once and then instantly stated that "he'd rather cut off his hand" than lay it on her again.
As per another user's tweet that line is said after the title character slaps Veda across the face in 1945's Mildred Pierce.
However, another user pointed out that Heard made a rather bizarre claim as she summed up the plot of The Talented Mr Ripley. The TikTok user stated what the Aquaman actress revealed during her deposition: "The thing with [Johnny] ... it's like the sun shines on you, and it's glorious. And then he forgets you, and it's very, very cold ... When you have his attention, you feel like you're the only person in the world; that's why everyone loves him so much."
According to the recent reports, Heard simply substituted Johnny for Dickie and used the following quote from the 1999 psychological thriller: "The thing with Dickie … it’s like the sun shines on you, and it’s glorious. And then he forgets you, and it’s very, very cold ... When you have his attention, you feel like you’re the only person in the world; that’s why everybody loves him so much."
Although, many fact-checked the allegations against Heard which proved that they are largely revolving around spreading rumours that Heard was "acting" during her testimony by quoting movie lines as her own.
Despite the fact that the image below depicts an actual scene from the film "The Talented Mr Ripley," Heard did not utter these words during her opening statement. Although the meme shows a genuine passage from the 1999 film, it was indeed Heard's lawyer who made the opening statement on Heard's behalf.
