YouTube star and late-night talk show host Lilly Singh has been quite vocal about her support for the farmers protesting in India. A few weeks ago, Rihanna’s tweet about the farmers’ protest in India drew international attention to the issue, and soon after, various international public figures such as Lilly Singh, Greta Thunberg, Amanda Cerny, Jay Sean, and many others also joined in extending their support to the farmers. Now, once again showing her solidarity at the 2021 Grammys red carpet, Lilly Singh was seen wearing a face mask with ‘I stand with farmers’ written on it.
Lilly Singh took to her Instagram to share a few snaps from the red carpet of Grammys 2021. The YouTube sensation made heads turn as she opted for an all-black polka dot power suit, and her face mask was what grabbed a lot of attention. ‘I stand with farmers’ was written in huge capital letters on Lilly’s face mask, and the pictures that she has shared, are going viral on social media. Lilly Singh wrote that the red carpet pictures get a lot of coverage, so she chose this opportunity to show her solidarity.
“I know red carpet/award show pictures always get the most coverage, so here you go media. Feel free to run with it,” wrote Lilly Singh. Amanda Cerny, who has also been tweeting in support of the farmers, approved of Lilly’s mask and dropped several hi-five emojis on Lilly’s post.
In December last year, Lilly Singh shared a TikTok video in which she talked about the farmers’ protest. “Did you know right in India there is the largest human protest in history taking place? If you follow me on other socials, you know I've been talking a lot about the farmer protests happening in India. Long story short, farmers are protesting new agriculture bills that affect their livelihood. And they've been peacefully protesting but they're met with no so peaceful responses,” she said.
