With the Grammy awards 2021 around the corner, the nominations were announced just recently. The final list of nominees for the Grammys was announced on November 24, Tuesday. After the Grammys 2021 nominations announcement, Justin Bieber, The Weekend and Nicki Minaj express their disappointment on social media. The Weekend calls Grammys ‘corrupt’ over nominations snub; Justin and Nicki drop posts slamming the awards.
The Weekend took to his Twitter handle and called the Grammy Awards ‘corrupt after he was overlooked for the nominations this year, even in one category. The three-time Grammy winner made a tweet on social media expressing his disappointment and criticised the Recording Academy. The Weekend, who had also topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his songs Blinding Lights and Heartless told the Grammy Awards in his tweet that his fans and everyone in the music industry deserve transparency.
The Blinding Lights singer tweeted, “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency...” Reacting to The Weekend’s tweet, according to a report in variety.com, Recording Academy chief Harvey Mason, jr said that he can understand that the singer is disappointed at not being nominated, and mentioned that he was surprised. He said he can empathise with what The Weekend is feeling, but spoke about how every year there are fewer nominations, but many deserving artistes. He also spoke about the singer’s Super Bowl performance.

Justin Bieber on the other hand made a post on his Instagram and slammed the Grammys Awards. He shared a note talking about the nominations, with the caption, “Please don’t mistake this as me being ungrateful, these are just my thoughts take em or leave em. Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj also reacted to the Grammys 2021 nominations announcement. She made a tweet talking about the time when Grammys didn’t give her the Best New Artist award when she had seven songs charting on the Billboard. She brought up the past issue where Bon Iver earned the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award for his collaboration with Taylor Swift on the song Exile.
