HBO’s massively hit series, Game Of Thrones, starring Emilia Clarke, Kit Harrington, Sophie Turner, Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage, has now headed to become a broadway. As per the latest reports in The Hollywood Reporter, a dramatic stage show which is based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy world is in the making now. That’s not it, the play will also mark the return of several beloved characters from the series. It is said the untitled play is set during a pivotal moment in Westeros history, The Great Tourney at Harrenhal, a contest that took place 16 years before the events in Game of Thrones.

“The play will for the first time take audiences deeper behind the scenes of a landmark event that previously was shrouded in mystery,” reads the play’s official description. “Featuring many of the most iconic and well-known characters from the series, the production will boast a story centred around love, vengeance, madness and the dangers of dealing in prophecy, in the process revealing secrets and lies that have only been hinted at until now.” The report further mentions that characters like a young Ned Stark, his rebellious sister Lyanna, teenager Jaime Lannister, Lord Robert Baratheon, Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, Prince Oberyn Martell will be shown in the show. Some other characters who were around during that time period will be included such as Cersei Lannister, Tywin Lannister, Tyrion Lannister, Littlefinger and Varys whereas younger characters from the series like Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow and Arya Stark were not born yet.

“The seeds of war are often planted in times of peace,” Martin said in a statement that was obtained by the portal. “Few in Westeros knew the carnage to come when highborn and smallfolk alike gathered at Harrenhal to watch the finest knights of the realm compete in a great tourney, during the Year of the False Spring. It is a tourney oft referred during HBO's Game of Thrones, and in my novels, A Song of Ice & Fire … and now, at last, we can tell the whole story... on the stage.”

On the other hand, earlier, The Hollywood Reporter also reported that the hit series will have three spin-offs that are in the pipeline and are backed by HBO. These spin-offs will be House of the Dragon that is scheduled to release next year and Tales of Dunk and Egg. But the third spin-off is yet to be officially announced and confirmed. ALSO READ: Game Of Thrones: Khaleesi Emilia Clarke Had ‘Issues’ With The Sexual Assault Scene; Author George RR Martin Criticizes Changes Made To The Original Plot
