WWE Hall of Famer Rocky ‘Soul Man’ Johnson, father of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, passed away on Wednesday, aged 75. The cause of death hasn’t been released yet. The WWE organization announced the news of his sad demise. Rocky Johnson, born Wayde Douglas Bowles, joined up with the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) in the 1960s. His wrestling career started young, at the age of 16. However, he joined the WWE in the early 1980s, after which, he had some really successful moments and there was no looking back for this WWE legend.
Rocky Johnson teamed up with Tony Atlas to form The Soul Patrol, and was the first African-American Tag Team Champions in WWE history after they beat The Wild Samoans in 1983. He retired from the WWE in 1991 and focused on training his son Dwayne Johnson, who went on to become one of the most popular and biggest stars of WWE. In 2008, he was inducted by The Rock into the WWE Hall of Fame. Rocky Johnson is survived by three children- Dwayne Johnson, Curtis and Wanda Bowles.
The wresting world also mourned the loss of the legend Rocky Johnson and many WWE stars D-Von Dudley, Mick Foley, and others took to their social media, expressing their condolences to the family. May his soul rest in peace.
