If you think it’s time the superhero films to win big, you are in good company, because so does Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and the people behind Captain America: Civil War.
A special Academy Awards Consideration screening was held sometime last week.
There is no word on whether the film makes the cut or not till now, but this is one of the few superhero films that will, if it does.
Right from 1940 till today, there’s been only about 25 superhero films that have been nominated for the Oscars and only a handful have won anything other than technical awards.
The 1978 Superman won Special Achievement Award.
In 1997, The Mask won the Oscar for Best Music and in 2004, The Incredibles won the award in the Best Animated Feature Film of the Year.
Even the iconic Batman Begins was only nominated for Best Achievement in Cinematography in 2005.
It was in 2008 that Heath Ledger broke the barrier by winning the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.
He won that award posthumously.
