Dwayne Johnson starrer Black Adam is currently Hollywood’s one of the most anticipated films. However, there has been a lot of buzz around Henry Cavill’s return as Superman in the upcoming film.

But, DC fans are in for a surprise, as it is being speculated that Cavill will also reprise his iconic role for Man of Steel 2. Not to mention, this comes as a great relief for the fans who have been wanting their favourite superhero to make a comeback. However, previously, Henry had said that he is done with the role.

Yet, rumours are rife that the actor will make his return through The Rock‘s upcoming film Black Adam. This film also marks Dwayne Johnson’s debut in the DCEU. Not only fans but even Dwayne himself has affirmed that he’d want Cavill to return and has teased the same on several occasions.

As the Black Adam inches closer to the release date, a new report suggests that Henry Cavill is back as Superman, and even a Man of Steel sequel is in the talks. While talking on his podcast, Marvelvision, industry insider David Faraci revealed that Warner Bros is going ahead with the sequel.

“Yeah. It’s not, like, specific. It’s all behind-the-scenes stuff that I thought was kind of fascinating, which is that the reason why… Henry Cavill has returned as Superman in Black Adam is that The Rock demanded it,” said Faraci. “Like, he went hard, full-court press on Warner Bros., and made them go to Henry Cavill and they had to sign a new deal with Henry Cavill, including saying they were gonna develop a new Superman movie… And it was all because The Rock insisted.”

Apart from the podcast, a Twitter user and insider ‘ViewerAnon’ seemingly hinted at big news from Cavill, telling fans that they would be happy with DC’s upcoming slate of films if they are Cavill fans.

The Twitter user, similarly to Faraci, also said that Dwayne Johnson was a major factor for this, saying he was “insistent” that things be figured out.

“Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods — and imprisoned just as quickly — Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world,” says the synopsis.

The film also stars Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman. Other cast members include Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer, and Uli Latukefu in undisclosed roles.
