Following the years of delays and extensions, the official title of filmmaker James Cameron's Avatar sequel was recently announced. While fans are excited to explore the epic adventure on Pandora, a few special were awarded with the upcoming instalment's first footage which was debuted during Disney's CinemaCon showcase in Las Vegas on April 27.

The first Avatar sequel is titled Avatar: The Way of Water and the first teaser trailer will drop alongside Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in theatres when the Marvel movie debuts on May 6.

Now, the first images from the Avatar sequel have surfaced on the internet, revealing what the filmmaker has been working on for the past decade in the first of four sequels.

However, in a rather disappointing piece of news for Avatar fans, the teaser trailer of Avatar The Way of Water has been leaked online.


Multiple social media users reported that the teaser trailer which is to drop alongside Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in theatres on May 6, had been leaked and circulated online. 

Several links to the leaked footage were circulated on various social media platforms. However, most leaked links that Twitter users shared have been taken down!

On April 27, Disney, which inherited the franchise after acquiring 20th Century Fox in 2019, unveiled new footage of the highly anticipated film at CinemaCon, the annual gathering of movie theatre owners. 

The attendees of CinemaCon were issued 3D glasses to watch and sept into Pandora with the much-anticipated trailer which contained almost no dialogue. Instead, exhibitors were immersed in different regions across the dazzling world of Pandora through sweeping visuals of the planet's crystal blue oceans and lakes.

The footage also shows the local tribe of Na'vi interacting with various species resembling whales and pelicans, some of which flew through the screen and into audience member`s faces thanks to the three-dimensional technology.

Avatar 2 reportedly debuts on December 16, with sequels to come on December 20, 2024, December 18, 2026, and December 22, 2028.

The Way of Water footage capped off Disney's 90-minute CinemaCon presentation, which also showcased exclusive footage from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Lightyear, Toy Story spinoff about Andy's beloved toy; David O. Russell's new film Amsterdam and Bob's Burgers.
