Yesterday was a dark day in the Indian film industry as we came across the news of acclaimed fashion designer Wendell Rodricks’ tragic demise. Reportedly, Wendell took his last breath in his Goa residence at the age of 59. Wendell Rodricks has been the torchbearer of fashion in Bollywood and is a reason behind the success of many acclaimed models and actresses. As soon as the news of his death hit the web, many celebrities took to their social media and remembered the iconic fashionista. Among many others, Malaika Arora and Anushka Sharma, too, mourned his demise.
Anushka Sharma shared a throwback picture of herself, along with Wendell Rodricks, from a fashion show as they walked the ramp. In her emotional caption, Anushka expressed her sadness and also revealed that Wendell was a crucial reason why she moved to Mumbai and pursued modelling. “He was one of the most iconic & original designers in fashion & A champion for LGBT rights. He had given me an opportunity to close his fashion week show in Mumbai after spotting me in Bangalore at a fashion show and was gracious, kind & encouraging. He was one of the reasons I had the courage to move to Mumbai from Bangalore to pursue modelling when I was just 18 years old. RIP Wendell, My love and prayers for Jerome and the rest of his family and friends,” wrote Anushka. Malaika Arora, who was a famous muse to Wendell Rodricks, shared an old picture of herself getting styled by Wendell. In her caption, she wrote, “A master couturier and his muse..... RIP our dearest @wendellrodricks... I first sat n cried, n then I sat alone n smiled n laughed, jus thinking of all the beautiful beautiful memories n moments we shared.”
