Much-in-love couple, pop icon Jennifer Lopez and her actor-director boyfriend Ben Affleck, appeared together for the first time at the 2021 Met Gala and made sure all eyes were on them. One of fashion's biggest and star-studded events, Met Gala, is held annually to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York. While the event was cancelled last year due to the pandemic, this year it's back again with a bang.
Met Gala 2021's costume theme was "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion" and it saw some breathtaking couture as A-lister celebrities walked up the famed steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. JLo was all-smiles posing for the shutterbugs along with boyfriend Ben Affleck and even shared a covid-friendly kiss with their respective masks on!
For their joint appearance, Jennifer went bold in a deep brown custom Ralph Lauren gown with a low-cut plunging neckline, a broad leather belt on the waist and a risque thigh-high slit.
Jlo coordinated the ensemble with a faux fur shearling cape and a cowgirl hat. Her faux fur shearling cape was embellished with a glittering shower of crystal beadwork. Ralph Lauren's Instagram page described it as, 'Alone, the cape crafted entirely by hand totaled over 200 hours of refined, creative work.'
The look was completed with a combination of vintage accessories, including a Navajo stamped silver cuff and ring, and silver jewellery from the Ralph Lauren archives. Describing more about JLo's outfit, the official Instagram page of Ralph Lauren wrote, 'Involving 15 specialized embroiderers, over 12 days of work, and more than 25,000 design elements, #JLo’s #MetGala ensemble debuted on the red carpet.'
She wore metallic silver strappy stilettos from her own DSW line to complete the look. Unlike many other celebrities, who didn't stick to the theme, Jlo's ensemble truly celebrated this year's exhibition "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion." The rustic, Wild West look complemented this year's American Independence theme perfectly well.
Ben, on the other hand, looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo.
The couple also indulged in some masked PDA and shared a covid-friendly kiss and the internet can't stop talking about it.
Just before this, the couple had made a head-turning appearance together during Ben's film premiere of “The Last Duel" at the 78th Venice Film Festival at Venice Lido.
Jennifer and Ben a.k.a. Bennifer had rekindled their romance earlier in 2021, just a month after Jen ended her two-year engagement to Alex Rodriguez. They had originally started dating in July 2002, got engaged and then ultimately called off their engagement in January 2004. Now that they are back together after 17 years, the fans just can't get enough of them!
