Anil Kapoor's younger daughter, Rhea Kapoor, married her longtime boyfriend of 12 years, Karan Boolani, in an at-home ceremony at their plush Juhu bungalow on August 14. The intimate wedding was attended only by family and close friends. The 34-year-old producer and stylist ditched the conventional saree colours of an Indian bride, like red, maroon or pink and opted for a beautiful off-white chanderi saree instead.
The saree, from the shelves of designer Anamika Khanna, whom Rhea called 'my most non judgemental, patient friend' on her social media post, will set a new bridal trend for brides who want to dress up a bit understated on their d-day. The saree was paired with an off-white half-sleeved blouse and an ivory-gold cape. Anamika posted a picture of the newlyweds and captioned, "Sometimes, moments like these make it meaningful to do what I do. Blessings Rhea and thank you yet again for having that trust and faith in us. PS- You can harass me forever "
She further broke the norm and took the look up a notch by wearing a vintage veil embellished with pearls from Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas, that made her look ethereal in this white ensemble. Her strikingly regal pearl and kundan neckpieces and earrings from her mother Sunita Kapoor's collection complemented the look perfectly.
Celebrity make-up and hair artist Namrata Soni, who's a good friend of the bride, did a fantastic job. She kept the make-up simple and matte but what stood out was the beautifully drawn dramatic winged eyeliner with some brown eye-shadow at the edges.
The bride's middle-parted hair was straightened and kept open which was adorned by the gorgeous pearl veil. Rhea's bridal look was simple, elegant and classy and a perfect takeaway for those bride-to-be's who don't want to go over-the-top on their wedding day.
Rhea, who's often lauded for her bold sartorial choices, surely didn't disappoint anyone and set a really bold trend even on her wedding day. We like!
