If I had to compare the
temperature set by Bollywood ladies at Cannes red carpet this year with what
they showcased in 2017, probably the mercury levels would drop.
Overall, a decent show
by Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya Rai, Kangana Ranaut (who made her debut at
Cannes) and Sonam Kapoor, but if you wanted to see fireworks, then Cannes was
not the place to be.
Starting with the one
who took to the red carpet first, Deepika Padukone- the actress let us down
with a few of her day looks but wowed us with her smouldering hot red carpet
avatars.
Deepika Padukone At Cannes 2018
On Day 1, Deepika
was a vision in white in a sheer gown by Zuhair Murad. With a deep neck and a
beautiful cape, Deepika looked like a goddess. On Day 2, Dippy was in mood for
some fun. She wore a ruffled gown with big winged sleeves by Ashi Studio.
Besides all the drama happening in that outfit, the bright fuchsia also took a
lot of attention. She was a delight in both the red carpet looks. However, here
are a few of her day looks, which left me slightly disappointed:

Coming to Kangana
Ranaut, who made her Cannes debut this year- she was a total rockstar! Not even
one look of the fashionista was a letdown. Be it the shimmery catsuit by
Nedret Taciroglu or the sheer Zuhair Murad gown, Kangana
displayed a range of variety, quirkiness and styles at the film festival.

Her day looks were fresh and bold too, take a look:

Aishwarya Rai arrived at
the Film Festival with her darling daughter, Aaradhya and won hearts on Day 1
itself with a spectacular butterfly inspired gown by Michael Cinco. The work on gown’s long train was intricate
and well-crafted. Mrs Bachchan completed her look with a bold lip and smokey
eyes. On Day 2, she opted for a rather simple and understated look- a
beige shimmery structured gown by Rami Gadi. The highlight of the look was the
avante-garde hairdo.

Aishwarya’s day looks were vibrant and full of
colours:

The new bride, Sonam
Kapoor arrived the last at Cannes but her fashion game was on point. Her first
look was a fusion between desi and videsi. A white starlit Ralph &
Rusoo outfit with a striking cape and Mediterranean hairdo, accessorised
with Indian parandi- Sonam was a delight to watch. The second red carpet look
was a complete contrast to the first one as Mrs Ahuja chose to go the
Cinderella way in a Vera Wang number with dash of yellow in the gown and
her make-up.

Lastly, it’s time to
dissect Huma Qureshi’s wardrobe at the gala. I appreciate that Huma pulled off
most of her looks with confidence and poise but what left me disappointed was
the choice of outfits.
A few of them did make a
difference and caught our attention like the first outfit she donned at the do-
a white simple gown with an interesting cape and crochet work on the bosom.
Huma looked pretty.
Huma Qureshi Poses For The Shutterbugs
The one which she wore
at the Chopard party was again a bold choice and full points to Huma for
carrying it off well but the outfit did not impress me much. Probably the
over-sized jacket she draped herself in was a bummer.
Huma Qureshi Fails To Impress
Most of her day outfits
were again a bit of a disappointment especially the bright red dress and the
white-blue tracksuit.
Huma Qureshi At Cannes 2018
Overall, a decent
attempt at standing out in the crowd but there was scope for better.
My verdict- Kangana
Ranaut was the Best Dressed at the event but Deepika Padukone’s Pink ruffled
dramatic gown is the look which will stay back with me from 2018’s red
carpet.
To
conclude the Cannes 2018 fashion diary, the film festival left a smile on my face while I was
expecting a big grin!
