Ayesha Nair discovers Aishwarya’s affinity for the colour black
In Bollywood, a world where everyone is beautiful, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan really is the most beautiful. But rarely has she been called the most stylish. However, that might soon change.
With a new innings in her career, Aishwaryas style too has evolved. And the colour of her comeback seems to be black.
At Cannes in 2013, Aishwarya went boardroom chic in beautifully cut trousers and a sharp waistcoat. She added feminine details with lace ruffles and red lips. the colour of her comeback seems to be black.
Aishwarya chose a Gucci coatdress for the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July last year. Theres no doubt that the dress is gorgeous its Gucci duh! but Aishwarya carried it with the confidence of someone who knows they are rocking it. And how awesome is the retro bouffant!
For a press conference on her birthday, Aishwarya wore a black suit with red lips and straight hair. While she did look stunning, the suit was an odd choice for the occasion. It seemed very businesslike, especially wrong for when you are addressing people on your birthday, a day when you are supposed to be chilling. The lapel on the blazer and those stripes down the pants were a little weird.
For a brand-related event she stepped out in a Gucci dress and took our breath away. She kept the styling very simple and let the dress and boots do the talking. This was her way of showing the world that she was ready to get going. Everyone who had written her off was about to eat humble pie.
At yet another brand-related event she went black and beautiful in Burberry. Whats the procedure to get that perfect shade of red lipstick? Dont tell me to go to the store. Ill never be able to look as good in it as she does.
For Farah Khans birthday, Aishwarya clung on to husband Abhishek in a Fendi dress. It was a look she would not have chosen before. But what I want to know is why did she insist on wearing pantyhose? What purpose did they serve? Maybe she forgot to shave her legs.
Most recently, at an event in Kuwait, Aishwarya wore Burberry. Of course it fits well but the whole look was such a snorefest. The straight hair was not helping much either. Possibly, the only saving grace were those Louboutins.
For Vogue, Aishwarya donned a fringe and a killer suit. Aishwarya made it look fierce yet feminine in a way that only she can.
