Pati, Patni Aur Woh, Movie Review: Get Set, Go For This Kartik Aaryan-Bhumi Pednekar-Ananya Panday Show

Kartik Aaryan entrenches himself further. Bhumi Pednekar is a scene- stealer. Ananya Panday is climbing the ladder. You are unlikely to dislike Pati, Patni Aur Woh

It's not lifted from the 1978 classic, it's fresh and entertaining, it's not made for the heck of piggybacking on a hit's name. Starts off a bit slowly but Mudassar Aziz (director) starts pedaling real hard after 45 minutes and the labour of love starts rolling out into a fun drama. It's always difficult to reprise the past and yet keep the viewers engaged and grinning but Aziz has done it. Pati, Patni Aur Woh is a cute-watch.

Kartik Aaryan has tried to do an Amol Palekar here. I had a similar feeling when I saw him in Luka Chuppi. Or was it that both films had him caught in crossfire, which was a hallmark in Palekar's ventures? This young man is affable and once again pulls it off with ease; he will travel far. The clean shaven look didn't suit him much. Quite liked him in the stubble-look when he's about to have a clean shave because Miss Panday likes it that way.

Bhumi Pednekar, you are a marvel. Sonchiriya, Saand Ki Aankh, Bala and now this, you deserve still more. Every dialogue you say, you have an expression on your face. If you recall, I think I told you after Saand Ki Aankh that directors and writers are now writing lines for you.

Ananya Panday, you impressed me yet again. You benefited the most from Student Of The Year 2 and this one is your capital gain, capitalised by your efforts. You are here to stay. Your mom and dad can put their collars up. Aur haan, I quite liked your gold coloured outfit in your entry scene and how can I forget the green knotted top you wore on grey jeans (wish there was a longer scene in that outfit).

Aparshakti Khurrana's striking resemblance to his brother Ayushmann continues- he can do little about that- but clearly, he is not behind his brother.

Loved the mall scene; the background music in that added a lot. Loved the scene when Bhumi walks out on Kartik. Loved the scene when Ananya takes Kartik to a nightclub and on the other side of the fence, Bhumi is dancing away pissed drunk.

The music is breezy enough, keeping in mind the twists and turns. Certainly can't complain about the Akhiyon Se Goli Mare number.

The only places where this film reminds you of the Sanjeev Kumar-Vidya Sinha-Ranjeeta film is Ananya's entry being similar to  Ranjeeta's and Kriti's to that of Parveen Babi's. Yes, Sanon too is in this one, a real good Friday for her- Panipat has her in the lead.

Pati Patni Aur Woh is a full-on timepass film. But, but, but... it has a message delivered largely by Miss Pednekar in quite a few scenes in the last 30 minutes. Manoranjan aur seekh tab dono milenge, bas aur kya chahiye?

I am going with 3.5
