If you are an Indian, you can't miss this movie. Does not take sides, yet gives you the correct picture of present India. Does not beat around the bush, but does not end before blaming politics. Anubhav Sinha, take a bow! You have balls. And I am not going to put *** in place of a, l, l.
The very first scene is an ode to harmony and the last
scene is a slap on the tatters of division.
The film gets a tad slow for a few minutes after the
interval but the lady in the black coat soon takes it against the collar to
peak it to a reverberating applause.
A Still From Mulk
Taapsee Pannu, who plays the lawyer, is easily one of the
strongest actresses of today. Who gave her a chance when she entered Bollywood?
Mind you, no Godfather is wrapping his arms around her. Sugar daddies be
damned, she does not like it sweet.
Taapsee Pannu In Mulk
Watch her in the climax when she brings the courtroom
down. Watch her in the scenes when she waits outside the jail while Kapoor and
Parwah is being questioned left, right and centre. Watch her in... the list is
pretty long.
Rishi Kapoor comes up with yet another different role and
he slips into it like knife through hot butter. Mr Ranbir, I don't know how
much you owe your talent to this man. How well Kapoor Sr underplays his role,
how silently he goes about with the suffering and how bewildered he looks as to
why there's so much chaos around him--- is worth going miles to see.
Rishi Kapoor In Mulk
You cannot take your eyes off Manoj Parwah who plays
Prateik Babbar's father. This man from the TV show Office Office is at office
like never before. It's not the empathy for his character that drives me to
laud him, it's the sheer depth he has sunk into playing a terrorist's
father.
Manoj Pahwa In Mulk
Babbar Jr is however wasted. He is good in whatever
little he has in his kitty, but why is Smita Patil and Raj Babbar's son not
getting enough on screen? Beats me!
Prateik Babbar In Mulk
While Nina Gupta and Prachi Pandya are beautiful and impressive, Ashutosh Rana comes up with yet another strerling performance. Two weeks ago it was Dhadak and now this! Kahan chale gaye the bhai itne din aur kyun? Did you want us to remember you only as the dirty postman in Dushman or Lajja Shankar Pandey in Sangharsh?
Ashutosh Rana In Mulk
Rajat Kapoor plays the cop who goes wrong and hangs down
his head in the end, but this man is indeed a treasure.
Kumud Mishra walks away with the loudest claps, after the
lady in the black coat has rested her case,
Rishi Kapoor In The Movie Mulk
Soorma, Dhadak and Mulk in barely a month---- I am proud of Bollywood in 2018. Now, the oversaid statement in meetings and interviews Content is the King' is finally reflecting.
Like always, am not going to tell you the story of Mulk except for the fact that it's a tale of a minority community family which fights to save its honour- and you certainly know that much from its trailer.
And I am going with FOUR, without a pause.
