Vikas Bahl directorial Goodbye is a breath of fresh air that Bollywood and its audience have been waiting for quite a while now. The film rightly encapsulates all the key moments in the aftermath of the funeral and the simplistic realism leaves you with a rollercoaster of emotions.

Interestingly, the film touches you at the right notes and strangely, this film does it from the onset of the opening scene. Soaked up in their humdrum life, Gayatri-Harish and their kids' journey is a heart-warming story about life, family, relationships and spiritual awakening.

Vikas Bahl definitely deserves a round of applause for his writing and directorial chops. Without wasting any time developing the plot, the filmmaker takes a quick dive into the plot rather than fooling around to establish the narrative.

As the film uniformly grabs pace giving the viewers space and time to progress all the developments, Bahl will impress you with the short montages that establish Gayatri’s relationship with each and every character. For those who haven’t watched the trailer, the film showcases Gayatri’s demise and how the unfortunate event radically changes the life of her loved ones.

Obviously, Gayatri’s demise is a big blow to all the family members, but the film focuses more on the enculturation of her kids. The thoughtfully drafted screenplay and plot elevate the experience of this family drama.

Detailing the character to their bone, Bahl has carefully crafted each and every role. Tara, being the only daughter, is loved and cared for by her siblings, however, the character’s complexity has awarded Rashmika with depth to explore herself and her craft. However, her sudden spiritual awakening comes as a hard-to-swallow pill. And this ultimately formulates new possibilities for the character.

The director has also focused on the development of other characters and it's a pleasant surprise to see each and every one of them serving their purpose and contributing to the storyline.

Frankly, the film is a complete package!

Apart from the heart-touching moments, the film also gives short and sweet comic bursts and it just couldn’t get any better. The fresh script and idea have worked in favour of Vikas Bahl and it is undoubtedly turned out to be another masterpiece in his career.

Speaking of the performances, everyone actor - from Amitabh Bachchan to Elli AvrRam, - has raised the bar for themselves.

To sum it up, Vikas Bahl will wow you with his writing and direction. The subtle fun moments with equally impacting emotional scenes, Goodbye offers a complete package. The film’s impressive plot and scripting are easily highlighted without any compromise on offering quality content. While some aspects might feel illogical in this satirical piece, the film can be easily enjoyed by all generations.
