Salman Khan has launched several actresses in Bollywood. Some made it big in the Hindi film industry while others vanished or weren’t welcomed by the industry. Zareen Khan is one such actress who debuted in 2010 opposite Salman in his action film ‘Veer’. She created quite an impact owing to her performance in the film but despite that, she failed to make a mark in the industry. Recently, Zareen opened up about her struggle, criticism and shared the reason why her potential has not been tapped well.
In an interaction with Hindustan Times, the actress revealed the reason that despite being in the industry for 12 long years, she didn’t get much work. The ‘Hate Story 3’ actress stated that she is often asked why she hasn’t done enough work in the films to which she says that it is not in her hands to get work at the end of the day. Zareen Khan further added, “There are too many factors, “First of all, the most important thing to be a part of this industry is to be very social, attend all the parties, and connect to people. Somehow at the beginning of my career, I didn’t know how to network and be seen at these parties is so important for your job." Elaborating further, she asserted that since she did not make that much effort to socialize or connect with people inside or outside the showbiz, she lacked opportunities. “The major trend right now is that everybody is everybody’s friend and they are working with their friends. She further asks “How will people like me get work if people keep recommending their friends in Bollywood?”
The 34-year-old actress believes that her talent has not been well explored by the filmmakers. In her opinion, people from the business have judged her on what they have seen on the screen. Concluding her point, Zareen mentioned, “People do not know me on a one-on-one level and that’s why they don’t know my potential. They are not really open to giving me a chance and that look at me beyond just a hot, eye candy".
On the work front, Zareen Khan was last seen in ‘Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele’ which was directed by Harish Vyas. She has also featured in several Punjabi movies.
