Former actress Zaira Wasim might have quit acting, but she often makes it to the headlines for sharing her opinions on Twitter. Recently, the Dangal star slammed a Twitter user who shared a photo of a woman eating with her hand while wearing the full-face niqab. The netizen asked, “Is this a choice of a human being?” Zaira was quick to react to this and came out in the support of the woman eating with hijab saying they don’t do it for the others so learn to deal with it.
One of the users posted a photo of the Muslim woman wearing a niqab as she ate with her hand and wrote, “Is this a choice of a human being?.” Slamming the user, Zaira Wasim pointed out that the decision was ultimately hers. She tweeted, “Just attended a wedding. Ate exactly like this. Purely my choice. Even when everyone around me kept nagging me that I take the niqab off. I didn’t. We don’t do it for you. Deal with it.” Her post received mixed reactions from netizens, while some supported her, others opposed her views. One netizen tweeted, “Shackles that make one slave. Even a bird starts liking cage.” Another said, “Generally we have separate sections for female in weddings But still some male enter in tat section for some sort of work Its her choice if she doesnt wanna remove it.” ALSO READ: Zaira Wasim Pens Words Of Wisdom About ‘Death’ Being Inevitable; Netizens Are In Awe Of Her ‘Wonderful Observation’

In 2022, Zaira made headlines after she shared her views on the controversy surrounding wearing a hijab. In a long note, she said, “The inherited notion of hijab being a choice is an ill informed one. It’s often either a construct of convenience or ignorance. Hijab isn’t a choice but an obligation in Islam. Likewise a woman who wears the hijab is fulfilling an obligation enjoined upon her by the God she loves and has submitted herself to. I, as a woman who wears the hijab, with gratitude and humility, resent and resist this entire system where women are being stopped and harassed for merely carrying out a religious commitment.”
Zaira Wasim, who made her Bollywood debut with Aamir Khan’s sports drama Dangal, quit acting in 2019 due to religious reasons. She explained that her acting profession “threatened” her relationship with her religion. Zaira was last seen in Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar-starrer ‘The Sky Is Pink.’
