Late veteran Bollywood actress Sridevi’s passing left a lasting impact on her fans and the entertainment industry. Having made a name for herself with her evergreen beauty and versatile performances, a lot was said and reported about her death. Now a recent report by the Free Press Journal states that the CBI has filed a chargesheet against a YouTuber and self-styled investigator for allegedly citing ‘forged’ letters and documents from dignitaries like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during a video interaction.

As per the reports she cited the letters to support her claims about the late actress’ passing. It was last year when the CBI registered a case against Deepti Rani Pinniti and her lawyer Bharath Suresh Kamath after a Mumbai-based lawyer Chandni Shah filed a complaint, which was referred to the agency by the Prime Minister’s office. The latter had alleged that the YouTuber had produced documents and letters from the PM and the Defense Minister including documents related to the Supreme Court and records from the UAE government. For the unversed, Deepti has been an active participant in discussions surrounding Sridevi and Sushant Singh Rajput’s deaths. While the actress passed away in 2018 due to accidental drowning, the latter committed suicide in 2020. According to the report by the media publication, the YouTuber had made sensational claims in an interview, where she stated that there was a “coverup between the two governments,” in regard to Sridevi’s death. After filing an FIR against her, the CBI conducted searches at her residence in Bhubaneswar on December 2. They proceeded to seize her digital devices including her phones and laptops. As per the report submitted to a special court, the agency has filed a chargesheet against her under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 465, 469, and 471.

Quoted by PTI, Pinniti shared, “It's kind of hard to believe that the CBI has filed a charge sheet against me without recording my statement. Moreover, the evidence will be given to the court when charges are framed. When the letters in question are incriminating against the very authorities under whom the CBI comes, CBI becomes a party of conflict to be the entity to collect evidence.”
