For a long
time now, there have been several reports about the leading lady for Sanjay
Dutt starrer Malang.
The latest on
this front is that Rani Mukerji has been approached for the film, which will be
helmed by debutant director, Aarambh Singh. The project is being produced
jointly by T-Series (Bhushan Kumar) and Legend Studios (Omung Kumar and Sandeep
Singh).
However, nothing
is confirmed from Rani’s side as of now as she is still considering the offer.
Interestingly, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's name was also doing the rounds a few
months back for the same role but the actress refuted the news.
Rani Mukerji At An Event
According to a
leading newspaper, Legend Studios producer, Sandeep Singh confirmed approaching
Rani for the role, "I want to make every film with Rani because I don’t
think there is anyone else with her kind of talent. Sanju and she will look
great on-screen and will make for a couple that people will remember for years.
We are keeping our fingers crossed and hope that she says yes."
On the other
hand, reportedly Rani Mukerji’s spokesperson has also confirmed the news of she
being approached for the role and said that Omung has reached out to YRF and
requested for a meeting with Rani.
A source quote
in the daily also suggested that Sanjay, Aarambh and the producers of Malang
are keen to work with Rani since they’ve never been paired on the big screen.
Dutt plays an investigating officer who falls in love with a lady cop. Rani
will need to look extremely fit for the part. Sanju has a lot of respect for
her and has wanted to work with her for a long time. But, she has not signed a
film outside of husband Aditya Chopra's banner in the last few years.
