Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut may have thrown a party together to celebrate their National Award wins. But the real fireworks seem to be happening now.
The bone of contention being the Sarbjit biopic. Last August, Kangana was approached to play Sarbjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur who fought a long battle to free her brother from Pakistan prison. The project was then being helmed by Hansal Mehta. Kangana was excited to be a part of the film and had even stated at a media event that its an absolutely challenging role.
However, the rights of the biopic belonged to Zeishan Qadri. In a strange turn of events, two weeks ago, the director changed hands. It was announced that Omung Kumar will be directing it and not Hansal.
Following Hansals unceremonious exit from the project, Kangana too decided to opt out of the film.
Since Omung is now wielding the megaphone for the film, Priyanka has become a strong contender for the role. The two had worked on Omungs debut film, Mary Kom. We hear, the director has even recommended Priyanka for the role to Zeishan.
When SpotboyE.com contacted co-producer Zeishan, he said, “Why not Priyanka? Omung and Priyanka have worked together, they gel together. However, I have not locked the actress yet. It could be even Deepika (Padukone) or who knows, I may still talk to Kangana. The script is not locked yet. I believe in finalising the actress only when I am sure that she will suit the script.”
Clearly, the film is seeing a lot of reshuffling. For those whove come in late, the film was to be produced by Subhash Ghai. Sonakshi Sinha was in contention for the role then. However, the production rights were then bought by Zeishan.
