Akshaye Khanna made his come back to the silver screen
with Dishoom(2016) starring Varun Dhawan and John Abraham. A lot of people were
eagerly waiting for this star performer to come out with his next film, which
could have been Sanjay Dutt’s biopic starring Ranbir Kapoor. In fact, he was
almost finalised and even trumped Jackie Shroff, who was also being considered
for the role. BUT, as disappointed as we are, Akshaye Khanna is not in the race
anymore and the role will be now played by Paresh Rawal.
However, SpotboyE.com has found out the reason why
Akshaye is no more a part of this project. Sadly, the ONLY hitch which Akshaye
and the film’s director Rajkumar Hirani had was with Akshaye’s look.

SpotboyE.com has learnt that even after trying prosthetic
make-up, Akshaye and Hirani were not convinced and felt that Akshaye did not
look like Sunil Dutt at all. Therefore, Akshaye who is very particular about
the characters he plays and also about their sketch felt that it will be an
injustice to the role if he plays it. Even Hirani was not convinced fully.
That’s the reason Hirani and Akshaye mutually decided to not go ahead with
their alliance.
Source also added, “Both Hirani and Akshaye respect each
other a lot. They will definitely work together in future.”
Sunil Dutt’s role in the biopic is a very integral part
of the script. The role is meaty and anyone in the industry would just grab it
without thinking twice and why not? Sunil Dutt played a very crucial role in
Sanju’s life. From being by his side when he got addicted to drugs after his
mother Nargis’s death, to being his pillar of support in all the legal ordeals
till his death in 2005, Sunil Dutt has been Sanjay Dutt’s backbone! Of course,
his role in the biopic will be an important one.

No wonder Paresh Rawal grabbed the opportunity with both
hands. As reported by a leading daily, a film’s spokesperson said, “The
film will showcase a beautiful father-son track. We are happy to have on board
Paresh Rawal, who will be seen essaying Sunil Dutt in the film. As known, Sunil
and Sanjay shared a deep bond in real life and Raju Sir is all set to recreate
many of these heart touching moments on celluloid.”
